Running a commercial operation, whether or not it is a little or global one specific, is of course not simple. In this conversation, Beaman discussed the challenges of running his company and its international expansion.
Beaman, a proponent of leading from the front or physically present in the office with his employees, found it challenging to manage his business remotely, particularly in light of the COVID-19 pandemic’s repeated lockdowns that severely restricted face-to-face contacts over lengthy periods of time. But with the help of technology, Beaman and his people were able to stay connected.
“We make every effort to communicate daily and monthly with every company and stakeholder, as much as is practical. As far as I can tell, the pandemic has benefits for our industry in terms of just agile working and, undoubtedly, people accepting that things can be accomplished over a zoom call, whereas meetings have been significantly more conventional and the Zoom phone was essentially frowned upon five years ago. Today, connecting with our employees and stakeholders throughout the organization via Zoom calls is almost the norm for business operations, the speaker said.
“We operate effectively through a hub, so our locations throughout the world connect to our main operations downstairs in London. Everything is done using a fairly agile and remote knowledge selection and procedure, so it has been lot simpler than you may imagine.
However, Beaman emphasized that running a global corporation entails battling with various legal regimes and every market’s unique problems.
When asked how he and his team overcame these obstacles, he responded, “From an underwriting perspective, our strategy is typically to go where the perform is. We identify the top teams of underwriters and skillfully build our company around them.
